gallery walls have been popular over the last few years and for good reason. they are a fun way to mix and match styles, photos and memories! while the concept is great, creating a wall that is timeless can be a bit daunting! thats why we are here! here are some of our best tips to make your gallery wall unique to you, cohesive and eye catching.
1- to create a more uniform look, try using photos in black and white, sepia or a filter. this way, you can have something that grounds the wall.
2- include pieces that are neutral…not in color, but in style. maybe an object, classic image (like flowers), or a letter
3- add something unexpected! we love the idea of using a unique piece of art that really stands out…like one of our small arches. It’s different enough that it makes a statement, but classic enough that it can tie the whole thing together.
4- add actual neutrals! these colors are a great way to balance a gallery wall. patterns work too…like leopard print, stripes and plaids.
5- you be you! whatever you do, make sure the whole look speaks to you and who you are and what you love.
6- don’t be afraid, just do it. there is no right or wrong when it comes to a gallery. it can be as simple or as complex as you want.
7- be the odd ball….last tip, go with an odd number of pieces. this creates more visual interest and makes it easier to mix in things that aren’t uniform in size. 5, 7, & 9 are good rules of thumb. or another option is to do a small group with one larger piece, like we are featuring below:
