They are in almost every room of my house. They perfectly fill the space with scent and style. I love how you can use candles to add warmth, evoke a feeling or simply fill an empty space. If you haven’t guessed, I’m talking about candles.
I love that certain scents can instantly take you to a place or time. When I smell the Capri Blue Volcano candle, I automatically think of Anthropologie. Not only do they sell this there, but the store always has this smell. I remember going to get my wedding dress and it smelled so gorgeous in the boutique…it was the Nest Bamboo scent. There is a hotel that I love to visit, and they have the most incredible Seda France Malaysian Bamboo scent and it just feels like luxury. Every time I visit, I always pick up one of these from the gift shop. I also love the candles from Bath and Body works and picking up great seasonal scents. I especially love using these with my candle lamp to really envelop my entire room with fragrance.
From a decorative standpoint, I am for sure influenced by the vessels they are in. Some of them are gorgeous and the best part is that they can be repurposed and reused in other ways. I love to use faceted glass or mercury glass containers to house other items. One of my favorite ways to style these is literally anywhere. A candle is great on top of books, the center of a table, on a mantle, etc.
Another thing that is so popular right now are taper candles and glass candleholders. An assortment with candle holders with varying heights makes a great focal point for a table, island or fireplace mantle. I have a fun tutorial on how to decorate taper candles that you can watch here.
When you feel like your room needs something, think about adding a candle. You can create an atmosphere perfect for whatever mood you want to have in the space. It can add the interest your need and the light and aroma you are craving. Candles are a great way to bring your space together.
