What I'm packing for my Alaska cruise...
In just a few days, I’ll be trading in summer heat for glaciers, fjords, and crisp mountain air—I’m off on a cruise to Alaska! While I can’t wait to take in the views (and the seafood), packing for a trip like this is a whole different ballgame.
Alaska in the summer is unpredictable. One minute you’re bundled up on the deck watching whales, and the next you’re strolling through port towns in the sunshine. So it’s all about balance: cozy meets chic, practical meets personal style. Here’s what’s making it into my suitcase.
Layering is non-negotiable. Temperatures can swing dramatically in a single day, so I’m bringing:
-
A lightweight packable puffer (easy to stash, warm enough for deck views) this one from Free People is my favorite
-
A cozy fleece or sweatshirt for lounging or layering
-
A few long-sleeve tees and tanks in colors I can mix and match
-
leggings for layering or lounging
-
A soft scarf & a beanie
Pro tip: neutral basics + one or two statement pieces = effortless style.
I still want to feel pulled together, even when I’m bundled up. Here are some go-to combos:
-
Black leggings + an oversized sweatshirt
-
Stylish sneakers that can handle walking tours (these adidas SL 72 OG's are my fave!)
-
A rain jacket that doesn’t scream "hiking gear"
-
One dressier outfit (for dinners or nights with live music!)
-
A belt bag or crossbody for hands-free exploring
These little extras make a big difference:
-
A fold-up tote or backpack for shore excursions
-
Electrolyte packets (Alaska air + activity = hydration is key)
-
Portable phone charger
-
Waterproof pouch for my phone/camera
-
Cozy socks for cabin downtime
-
A travel-size steamer (wrinkle-free clothes = instant polish)
Even in practical moments, I still want to feel like me.
-
A bold red lip (my go-to for looking pulled together fast)
-
A good beach read (currently packed: a light romance + one thriller)
-
A signature scent rollerball to feel a little luxe at sea & always remember this trip
I’ll be sharing all the highlights (and scenery!) when I return, but this list is helping me feel calm and collected pre-departure. If you’ve done an Alaskan cruise, I’d love to hear what you packed and loved—send me your must-brings!
Until next week,
xo, Tracy
