The Little Things Defining My Summer

The Little Things Defining My Summer

There is something about summer that always feels like a fashion resurgence to me.

Maybe it's because the days are longer, the calendar fills up, or because getting dressed just feels a little more fun this time of year. Whatever the reason, I find myself paying a little more attention to the details.

I've always loved summer dresses. They somehow feel right for almost every occasion, whether it's dinner with friends, a vacation, a backyard gathering, or just a regular Tuesday. Throw on a dress and you're instantly put together.

Summer is also when accessories really shine. When it's 90 degrees outside, the last thing I want is extra layers. Accessories become an easy way to add personality and interest without making yourself feel like a human volcano. A statement necklace with a simple dress. Colorful earrings when my hair is pulled back. Bright shoes. Even a fun nail color. They're the little details that make an outfit feel personal.

Lately, I've noticed a few themes showing up again and again.

The first is a sense of playfulness. Beaded necklaces are everywhere this summer, and I completely understand why. They feel colorful, cheerful, and a little nostalgic in the best way. The same goes for charm jewelry and even jelly shoes. They remind me that style doesn't always have to be serious. Sometimes it can just be fun.

At the same time, I'm finding myself drawn to classics that seem to return every summer. Americana inspired pieces, vintage flag motifs, patriotic sweaters, stripes, and raffia bags all feel especially relevant right now. There is something timeless about them. They feel familiar, relaxed, and perfectly suited for summer.

Stripes in particular are having a moment in my world. They've always been a favorite of mine because they somehow manage to feel both classic and fresh. Whether it's a striped sweater thrown over your shoulders on a cool evening, a striped dress, or even a striped detail in your home, they never seem to go out of style.

What I've realized recently is that the things I'm drawn to in fashion are often the same things I'm drawn to at home. Pattern. Color. Texture. Personality. A mix of classic pieces with something unexpected.

The same reason I love a beaded necklace or a colorful shoe is the reason I love a patterned pillow, a piece of artwork, or a striped Door Detail Strip. They're all small ways to express your personality and make something feel more like you.

Maybe that's what is defining my summer this year.

Not one big trend or must have item. Just a collection of small details that make everyday life feel a little more personal, colorful, and fun. A beaded necklace. A woven bag. A striped sweater. A favorite nail color. A pop of pattern on a door.

The little things may seem small, but they're often what make a season memorable.
