If you need a simple way to add height, interest and completeness to a space, look no further than a stack of books. Books are perfect items to add to your space and express your personal tastes. When I need something to finish a table or shelf, I am always reaching for a few books.
a good book stack is varying in size, and has something cohesive to bring it all together. in this case, these all have a shade of pink + rest on each other perfectly.
Books are something I really love to collect and gift. With so many subjects and types, it’s very easy to find books for everyone. I theme my books based on the room/shelf they are on and use them accordingly. As an example, in my office, I have books about fashion, style, shoes and home decor. These are topics that mirror my work and express who I am. In my kitchen, I have special cook books. Ones that I have been gifted over the years, my go to classics that have my favorite recipes and of course a few books that have been passed down through family. In my living room, I have a mix of books and subjects that are important to me and my husband. I have books about the history of our town, travel, color and art. In our den area, we have books of interest about cocktails and the history of video games.
there are so many beautiful book options out there. this one has a beautiful spine + a theme that is true to me.
A few ways to elevate books is by removing the dust cover. Most books have a nicely colored spine and some even include things like embossing or foiling for added interest. I like to make my favorite books accessible on a table or low shelf so people feel inclined to open them and look through. Sometimes I even like to have an open book on the table to highlight a story or picture I really love. In areas where I want more, I like to turn books the opposite way, so that the pages are showing. This creates instant texture and is a great way to fill space with books that may not speak to you.
second hand stores are perfect for finding books! i loved the way these were displayed, creating an ombre effect. would love to do this in any room!
Another favorite thing of mine is to pick up books at second hand of thrift stores. Often, I just grab these based on the color of the cover vs the subject. But sometimes, you can find the best treasures in these stores and then the book may have a story of a vacation you were on, or special afternoon adventure.
